The Great Alabama Pelican Conspiracy Ok well maybe not great, but true!

Good evening my friends! I have missed you all! Yep it’s been a while, but as many of you know I was in Alabama for 5 weeks for work. Just got home on Monday and I have been busy unpacking and cleaning since I got in the door. Have you ever been so tired that your tired was tired?

I was soooooo happy to see my furry suport staff, particularly Jeb, who, in no uncertain terms told me all about his woes for at least an hour.

I have so many things to touch on, that I may have to split them up. First of all, R.I.P. Barbara Bush. What a class act she was! If you have never read her biography I suggest you do. No matter your politics or thoughts and feelings about her husband and son, this book is a must read.

Next concerns yet another farm in Maryland with dead and almost dead ponies called Misty Dream. And Misty refers to Misty of Chincoteague ponies, which means again rescues are stepping in to assist in getting these poor creatures safe and recovered. My friend Deb Ober and her Chincoteague Pony Rescue will be over run yet again. If you can, please help.  These ponies will need food and vetting and a few will need it even more so as they are carrying foals. Deb has graciously agreed to take them to get them through that process. I am not privvy to the details as to why this happened but feel that under any circumstance this level of neglect and cruelty is unacceptable. God Bless the rescuers!

My trip to Alabama was overall fantastic! A group of us visited New Orleans, which was an experience in itself. The food was fantastic, the mood was wonderful, but it isn’t somewhere I would want to go again. We discovered that I experience “sidewalk rage” when someone suddenly stops in the middle of a walkway, or when someone walks out of an establishment without checking to see what’s coming. Yea that’s a thing! We also viisited Gulf Shores, Alabama and its little zoo from the Animal Planet show “The Little Zoo That Could.” It was also the basis for the movie “We Bought a Zoo.” Its cute and mostly geared towards kids, but we enjoyed it! Our best find was a place on the beach there called Bahama Bobs. The food was amazing! The Bahama Mamas were even better…I had three!!!

Our last day off was spent on Dauphin Island in Alabama. It is certainly a beautiful place with pelicans all over. My mission was to get a really good photo of some pelicans, because anyone who knows me knows I love Pedicans!!! Anyhow, every time I took out my camera to take a photo it was like pelican ghost town. They would disappear from sight! Eventually I began to rattle off expletives whenever this happened and I called them some not so nice names. Susan and Emily were enjoying this! So as we are crossing the bridge to leave the island Emily who is in the back seat says “I just watched a pelican dive in the water on this side!” and I’m thinking asshole!!! Then Emily says “Sharon, there is one right there!” I am so not seeing it…again she points and says “right there!” Sure enough right outside the passenger side window there is a pelican neck and neck with the car. I mean I am looking him right in the eye. I fumble for my camera and it disappears before I can get the lens cap off. I called him a “m***** f*****!!!! I thought Emily and Suzan were gonna die laughing!!!! This is why I now have a stuffed pelican named MF Pelican, and yes he posed for his first photos very nicely! So goes the Great Alabama Pelican Conspiracy!!

Have you ever heard the expression “a ringing phone must be answered?” Well in my world an opening elevator door must be exited! I’m not sure if it was exhaustion, but I’m not Even going to own up to the number of times I found myself on the 2nd floor instead of the 3rd where my room actually was. And apparently it’s contagious, because my roomie and I both did it together. Even tried to get into room 223 instead of 323 and were angry that both our key cards didn’t work until we both realized it was the wrong room on the wrong floor. Talk about feeling sheepish. At least I was not alone in my insanity.

Well that is all I have for now! I have got to get the furry ones settled for the night and I am beat! Look for a new announcement from CorgiNuts soon! Hopefully this will be the next big thing!

Is anyone out there? Are you listening? Please leave me a comment so I will know…..

Extra scrtiches and lots of love to your furry support staff!

I love you all most ardently. Enjoy your Thursday as you begin the descent into your weekend, it’s almost over….

Play nice y’all…..

Sharon, your adventures in life crack me up; never a dull moment or a minute of adventure!! So sorry about the ponies who died and so badly mistreated; there are no words (usable) to describe my anger of people mistreating any animal…but especially these precious ones from NC. If I can find Deb Ober’s web site, I will definitely contribute to their welfare. She is a special Angel for the love she has for these rescued ponies. 🐴🐎
I’m counting down the days til I pick Rick up at RDU on 4/27 for his last trip from Singapore. These two years have gone by so quickly and so much has happened around iur home (hot water heater burst in our attic the week he left for Singapore & took (8) weeks to finish the work required for a water leak of this size; I had to have cataract surgery and my neighbor Mike took me & stayed with me during the surgery-went great!-now seeing 20/20 with no astigmatism in my right eye, whoopie!! Mike also drove me to the surgeons office the next day so I wouldn’t be alone…bless his heart, been a great friend to both Rick & me; our granddaughter got married on 10/7 last year & when they moved in to her husband’s grandmothers house in March this year, she got pregnant—I’m gonna be a great-grandma—triple woohoo!!; on 3/2 when we had a major windstorm the shingles on our roof (and about half of the houses in our neighborhood) blew off and since we’d paid for poor quality work for the last (7) years I turned it over to our insurance company who didn’t have any problem getting us a check for $11,352.00 needed for a new roof which goes up 4/23; and finally when we had our whole-house water filter installed, the tech suggested we go with them on their maintenance program. Took about a week but the tech came on Saturday to get us signed up, did his first inspection and found our unit upstairs had biohazard growth in it. Pictures he showed me scared me to death! He installed an air scrubber and a piece of equipment with a powerful UV light and said this was temporary unless we got a new system. (YIKES!!) The HVAC tech came out & looked at our system (he’d already seen the funky biohazard growth) and quoted us three units. Since it would take a bomb to get me out of this place, I (with Rick’s blessing) chose the high end HVAC for a total cost of $10,131.00…) J felt like crying but Rick said I did the right thing which made me feel a little better. The install guys were here on Monday 4/9 @ 9:00am and didn’t finish until 5:00pm. We have a thermostat which looks like a minipad! I can manage our heat/air from across the country now, and it gives a (5) day weather cast…Rick’s gonna flip when I show this new-fangled piece of equipment. We all think that the builder of our home (Orleans) who had filed bankruptcy was just putting the cheapest equipment they possibly could. And one good thing: we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary last week on 4/10. Never in my wildest dreams would I have said I’d be happily married to anyone for 25 years!! But we did and I feel so blessed.
After all this and when Rick gets home, I’m going on strike!! No more house issues will I worry one bit; it’s all gonna fall on that Man of Mine!!
It’s good to hear from you & read your stories of your adventures and I know your furry support staff were really glad to see you; especially Jeb!
Well that about catches us up on our travels & adventures…love you dearly, Linda
